Salaries can vary depending on experience and sector. The highest salaries are for Vice-presidents, with over $200,000. Directors range from $180,000 to $250,000, while a Generalist Business Partner can earn up to $180,000.

An HRIS manager can earn more than $120,000 while a Recruitment Manager up to $180,000, and a Generalist Manager between $80,000 to $150,000.

Soft skills that employers are looking for include communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to implement change, flexibility and adaptability, problem-solving and critical thinking.

Technical skills that are desired include experience working with talent management systems and databases, interviewing, onboarding and offboarding, organization and multitasking.

While there are no specific qualifications required to work in the Human Resources profession, most employers will look for a combination of practical experience and a professional accreditation.
