Experienced VP of Operations Needed for Growing Sarasota GC
Job Summary
A confidential, well-established construction organization in Sarasota is seeking a Vice President of Operations to provide executive-level leadership across all operational functions. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring project execution aligns with business objectives, and supporting scalable growth across the organization.
The VP of Operations will work closely with ownership and senior leadership to oversee construction operations, improve efficiencies, strengthen teams, and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and financial performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight of all operational functions, including construction, project management, scheduling, and field operations.
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement operational strategies aligned with company goals
- Drive consistency, efficiency, and accountability across multiple projects and teams
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, and operational KPIs
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to quality and safety standards
- Lead and mentor senior operations leaders, project executives, and field leadership
- Establish and refine systems, processes, and best practices to support scalable growth
- Collaborate with preconstruction, estimating, and business development teams to support successful project delivery
- Serve as a key decision-maker in risk management, resource planning, and operational problem-solving
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a senior operations leadership role (VP, Director, or equivalent) within construction or development
- Strong background overseeing multi-project portfolios and large operational teams
- Demonstrated success driving operational improvements and organizational growth
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasting, and cost performance
- Strong leadership, communication, and executive presence
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on operational oversight
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred
