Description:
A leading heavy civil contractor is currently delivering a major design‑build transportation improvement project in Florida. The work includes roadway widening over several miles, construction of new bridges and intersections, sidewalks, drainage systems, and safety enhancements. This high‑profile infrastructure project is valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars and is designed to improve traffic flow, mobility, and long‑term regional growth.
Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of the Engineer of Record, this role supports planning, coordination, and execution of complex civil infrastructure construction activities, including:
- Lead project meetings with owners, field leadership, subcontractors, and inspectors to communicate progress, schedules, construction issues, variances, and technical challenges on projects exceeding $100M.
- Coordinate the collection, review, and distribution of technical information between internal teams and the project owner to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Review plans, specifications, and technical data to verify compliance with contract requirements and design standards.
- Provide technical support and coordinate responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), as well as manage Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) and corrective actions with appropriate approvals.
- Identify potential conflicts or delays by reviewing construction processes and recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and minimize schedule impacts.
- Develop and implement construction work plans, methods, and procedures, obtaining approvals as required.
- Schedule, track, and monitor construction activities and material deliveries to support timely project completion.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs, bills of materials, and budgets, ensuring alignment with project specifications and scope.
- Analyze and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations from technical and cost perspectives; perform cost‑benefit analyses to support project decisions.
- Track project costs, support monthly cost reporting, and perform cost‑to‑bid and variance analyses.
- Assist in subcontractor procurement, contract administration, change order negotiation, and scope management.
- Schedule and participate in inspections to verify compliance with quality control and quality assurance requirements.
- Coordinate surveying activities and field layout.
- Support implementation of project Safety, Health, and Environmental programs.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in project engineering and/or construction management on civil infrastructure projects valued at $50M+.
- Hands‑on experience with Cast‑In‑Place (CIP) concrete elements, including retaining walls, MSE walls, sound walls, and bridge approach or wing walls—from layout through placement and curing.
- Working knowledge of state DOT standards, specifications, quality control requirements, and plan interpretation.
- Prior experience on DOT roadway and/or bridge projects, including coordination of formwork, reinforcing steel, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Experience negotiating subcontractor contracts and managing change orders on large‑scale construction projects.
- Strong background in cost estimating, budgeting, and financial analysis, including quantity takeoffs, supplier evaluations, and variance analysis.
- Proficiency with construction project management software such as Procore, Primavera, or similar platforms.
- Experience coordinating and responding to RFIs on large, complex construction projects.
