Our client is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Washington, DC.
Role Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Active Directory & Cybersecurity Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level identity and access management systems in a highly secure environment. This role requires deep technical expertise in Microsoft technologies, strong leadership skills, and a foundational understanding of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) for certificate-based authentication and encryption.
• Design, plan, implement, and maintain enterprise Active Directory environments (Windows Server 2012+).
• Manage and optimize ADFS, DHCP, DNS, ADCS, and related services.
• Oversee integration of PKI components, including digital certificates, Certificate • • Authorities (CA), and key management.
• Ensure compliance with DoD security standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to secure systems and troubleshoot complex issues.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members.
Skills & Requirements
• U.S. Citizenship with Active TS clearance (polygraph preferred).
• 8+ years of relevant IT experience.
• 7+ years designing and maintaining enterprise Active Directory environments.
• Expert knowledge of:
• Active Directory (AD)
• Windows Server & Workstation OS
• ADFS, DHCP, DNS, ADCS
• MS SQL Server
• Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage competing demands independently.
• MCSA / MCSE certifications (Windows Server 2012/2016 or Core Infrastructure).
• Scripting experience (PowerShell).
• Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux/Mac OS, Microsoft Azure, Azure AD, and AWS IAM.
• Familiarity with IT management tools (SolarWinds, SCCM, Cisco Prime).
• Understanding of network security (ACLs, firewalls).
• Basic understanding of PKI concepts, including:
• Digital certificates and X.509 standards
• Certificate Authorities (CA) and Registration Authorities (RA)
• Encryption fundamentals and key lifecycle management.
