I am partnered with a leading New York specialty contractor in business since the 80’s with a solid reputation across New York City focusing on interior and structural projects self-performing across the following trades; concrete, masonry, drywall, carpentry, fireproofing, lath, acoustics, and specialty plaster finishes for some of the world’s most prominent brands including RXR, Google, NYU, Sony, UBS, Citibank, Silverstein Properties to name but a few.
Their legacy in NYC spans three decades, with the firm delivering across complex scopes on projects valued to $40 million.
Your new role
As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll join a high-performing team to oversee interior and renovation projects specific to drywall and masonry trades with an average scope value of $1-5M. You’ll spend significant time on-site, assessing progress and driving successful project completion.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Oversight of job site labor and managing quality
- Daily management, supervision, coordination, and successful completion of projects to meet time and cost objectives (contracting, scheduling, estimating, bidding, and contract administration)
- Preparing vendor agreements and purchase orders for review and approval
- Preparing and monitoring tracking logs for contract documents, submittals, shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, material deliveries, and other quality control items
- Reviewing proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates
- Setting up schedules for technical staff and equipment on projects
- Maintaining files of working documents as backup for estimate figures
- Building strategic relationships with clients, vendors, contractors, manufacturers, stakeholders, and project teams
- Driving alignment with overall company and client goals
What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum 5 years prior Project Management experience in construction for either a specialty subcontractor or general contractor. (10+ years preferred for senior candidates)
- Ideally hold a construction-related degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering.
- Proven experience managing projects across commercial, retail, and residential sectors in excess of $2M for drywall, carpentry, masonry, or acoustics scope.
- Strong skills in project planning, scheduling, budgeting, bidding, and contract management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to build strategic partnerships
- OSHA certifications would be a plus.
- A driven, proactive approach and the ability to thrive under pressure on high-profile projects throughout the city
