Senior Energy Engineer

Your new company
You will be joining a well established consulting engineering firm based in White Plains, NY, known for delivering high quality mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and energy engineering services across a wide range of building types. The firm partners with clients in education, healthcare, hospitality, commercial, and residential sectors, providing technically rigorous solutions that improve building performance and energy efficiency. As the firm continues to expand its energy services practice, they are seeking a highly skilled Senior Energy Engineer / Project Manager to take on a leadership oriented role and work closely with senior leadership on strategic initiatives.

Your new role
  • Lead and manage energy engineering projects across multiple market sectors, including educational, hospitality, healthcare, office, and residential buildings
  • Perform and oversee all aspects of ASHRAE Level II energy audits, including site assessments, data analysis, and development of energy conservation measures (ECMs)
  • Conduct retro‑commissioning and new‑building commissioning activities, ensuring systems operate efficiently and in compliance with project requirements
  • Develop feasibility studies, energy savings analyses, and cost‑benefit evaluations for complex building systems
  • Prepare and present technical reports, energy models, and recommendations to clients, building owners, and project stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with NYC local laws, including LL84, LL87, LL88, and LL97
  • Support and manage NYSERDA FlexTech program projects, including application, analysis, and reporting requirements
  • Mentor and train junior engineering staff, providing technical guidance and supporting their professional development
  • Collaborate directly with firm Principals on project strategy, client relationships, and overall practice growth
  • Contribute to the development of internal tools, processes, and best practices to enhance the firm’s energy engineering capabilities

What you’ll need to succeed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in energy engineering, commissioning, or building performance consulting
  • Strong familiarity with NYC energy regulations, including LL84, LL87, LL88, and LL97
  • Experience working on NYSERDA FlexTech program projects
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and manage client relationships
  • Professional certifications such as CEM, CBCP, EBCP, or equivalent strongly preferred
  • Proven experience performing Level II energy audits and commissioning services
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and energy analysis tools
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and eager to grow into a leadership role within the firm
