Your new role
As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer – Data Centers, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and documenting commissioning activities for electrical systems within large-scale data center environments. You’ll ensure that power distribution, backup systems, and automation platforms are tested, energized, and integrated safely and in compliance with design and performance standards.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement commissioning plans for MV/LV electrical systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, and busway systems.
  • Commission control and automation systems (PLC/SCADA, network infrastructure, instrumentation loops), including signal verification, interlock testing, and alarm rationalization.
  • Oversee safe energization, load tests, and protective device settings; troubleshoot issues and drive root-cause analysis.
  • Review drawings and documentation (SLDs, schematics, I/O lists, cause & effect, P&IDs) and manage redlines/as-builts.
  • Coordinate with construction and OEMs to close punchlist items; track completions and maintain commissioning logs and test records.
  • Support operational readiness: train site operations, develop O&M procedures, and contribute to handover packages.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Education & experience: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). 3–7+ years in commissioning, start-up, or electrical testing within industrial utilities, power generation, water treatment, district energy, or similar environments.
    • Hands-on testing experience with MV/LV power systems, MCCs/VFDs, relays (e.g., SEL/ABB/Schneider), UPS/generators, and grounding.
    • Ability to interpret SLDs, schematics, wiring diagrams, I/O lists; competent with test equipment (insulation resistance, primary/secondary injection, power quality analyzers).
    • Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E, IEEE/IEC standards, and applicable local codes.
  • Other: Willingness to work on site, occasionally on shifts/weekends during critical milestones; travel to project and vendor locations as needed.
