Our client is seeking a Purchasing Specialist in for a remote opportunity

Role Description

The Purchasing Specialist will assist Energy Services management with multi-departmental contract oversight and procurement of goods and services in support of the organization (Chilled Water Systems, Cogeneration Systems, Electric Distribution Systems and Water Systems). This position is responsible for assisting customers with contract interpretation, defined pricing, reporting, securing encumbrances and renewal reminders.

• This position will secure vendor quotes, assist with ensuring correctness and completeness of all procurement packages, process requisitions in Connect Carolina for purchases requiring a University Purchase Order, and coordinating with Central Purchasing to ensure timely completion of the procurement cycle.
• In addition, this position will assist the business services team in completing the work needed to ensure on time payment of critical vendors.

Skills & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree; or associate’s degree and two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
• Basic working knowledge of state and federal procurement laws, contract law, purchasing practices, and quality of goods/commodities and/or services being purchased.

• Ability to interpret and apply proper procurement methods and procedures for routine purchases.

• Ability to prepare and maintain records of some complexity accurately and thoroughly.

• Ability to identify issues for routine purchasing actions; ability to explore alternatives, ability to seek assistance.

• Ability to establish, develop and maintain relationships with departmental personnel, vendors, and other customers/clients.

• Ability to respond to routine/basic requests. Superior interpersonal skills and a demonstrated high degree of accuracy are essential.

• Ability to multitask and prioritize. Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Teams, and Adobe.
• Knowledge and/or experience working with an integrated system that supports effective procurement and accounting business processes (example – UNC ConnectCarolina) and a Preventive Maintenance (PM) work management system (example – Maximo).
