Project Manager - International Federal Projects (US Based)

Your new company

Join a well-established, Maryland-based general contractor with a strong reputation in federal and regulated commercial construction. They are a minority-owned firm that has successfully delivered hundreds of projects both domestically and internationally, specializing in complex work under IDIQ, MATOC, MACC, and design-bid-build contracts.

Your new role

  • This is a Project Manager position based full-time out of the MD office.
  • You will oversee a portfolio of international federal construction projects while occasionally supporting domestic work in the DMV.
  • The role focuses on managing projects remotely in close coordination with onsite international teams, providing leadership, oversight, and problem-solving support without requiring permanent overseas placement.
  • You will oversee projects averaging $1M to $15M, but projects could go up to $30M.
  • Limited international travel is expected — approximately 3–4 trips per year — for short durations, typically to support critical phases, emergency situations, or temporary coverage.
All international travel expenses are fully covered, including flights, lodging, transportation, and per diem.
  • This role offers a unique opportunity to stay US‑based while managing high-profile international federal construction work.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 5+ years of federal construction experience at a General Contractor
  • Overseas Building Operations (OBO) or similar U.S. Department of State program projects are preferred but not required.
  • Strong project management fundamentals, experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations, and the ability to manage cost, schedule, risk, and compliance in highly regulated environments.
  • Strong communication skills are critical, as this role requires close collaboration with international field teams, internal leadership, and government stakeholders.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and comfort working across time zones
  • Due to the nature of the work, you must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain the required federal clearance.

What you'll get in return

  • Base salary ranges from $140,000 to $175,000 dependent on experience.
  • Discretionary annual performance bonus
  • Partial employer-paid health insurance
  • Long- and short-term disability insurance
  • life insurance
  • 401(k) with a 6% company match
  • 15 days of vacation, increasing to 20 days after two years, plus paid holidays.
  • All international travel expenses are fully covered, including flights, lodging, transportation, and per diem.
  • Opportunity to manage international federal projects while remaining based in the U.S.
