Project Engineer — DOT

Position: Project Engineer - DOT

With a strong emphasis on self-performance, the organization manages all critical disciplines in-house—from earthmoving and drainage to concrete and utility installations.

Job Description:

  • Analyze project contracts and specifications thoroughly to ensure compliance and clarity.
  • Support the project leadership team with scheduling, coordination, and administrative tasks.
  • Contribute to the development and updates of project schedules.
  • Assist in tracking quantities, forecasting costs, and managing project budgets.
  • Source pricing from subcontractors and vendors, including for change orders.
  • Coordinate equipment and material requisitions to meet project timelines.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams to address and resolve project challenges.
  • Help prepare monthly billing statements, cash flow projections, and change order documentation.
  • Maintain organized document control systems including submittals, drawings, and contract files.
  • Review daily field reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage technical documentation such as submittal logs, permits, pollution prevention plans, and progress schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with inspection protocols, survey requirements, utility coordination, testing procedures, and claims documentation.
  • Communicate updates to subcontractors and vendors when changes in plans or specifications affect deliverables.
  • Support project closeout activities and documentation.
  • Perform additional tasks as directed by the project leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, preferably with a focus in Construction Engineering and Management.
  • 5–8 years of experience in civil construction, with exposure to both office and field operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, and scheduling software such as Primavera P6.
