Your New Role
We are seeking a Policy Planning Advisor to support the development of strategic infrastructure plans and regulatory frameworks to provide support to NYCDEP on Phase 2 of their One Water Project.
This role blends technical expertise with policy insight to help shape long-term planning initiatives and guide clients through evolving environmental and regulatory landscapes. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver data-driven, actionable strategies that support resilient and equitable water infrastructure.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and evaluate policy frameworks for water, wastewater, and stormwater systems
- Conduct infrastructure needs assessments, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analyses
- Support long-range planning efforts, including master plans and capital improvement programs
- Collaborate with clients and stakeholders to align technical solutions with regulatory and community goals
- Analyze and interpret regulatory trends, environmental data, and emerging technologies
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and planning documents for public and agency review
- Contribute to grant applications, funding strategies, and stakeholder engagement initiatives
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure planning, policy development, or utility management
- Strong understanding of municipal water systems, regulatory compliance, and environmental policy
- Experience working with public agencies or utilities, especially in the NYC metro area, is preferred
