Your new role
As a Night Shift Building Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the performance, safety, and reliability of a state-of-the-art R&D facility in Redmond, WA. Working overnight, you will be responsible for monitoring and maintaining complex building systems including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and critical infrastructure supporting research operations.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on building systems
  • Monitoring building automation systems (BAS) and responding to alarms
  • Supporting critical environment equipment essential to R&D functions
  • Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues to ensure uptime
  • Conducting routine inspections and documenting system performance
  • Collaborating with on-site teams and external vendors where necessary
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards
What you'll need to succeed

  • 3+ years of experience in building engineering or facilities maintenance
  • Experience working in R&D, laboratory, data center, or mission-critical environments preferred
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, and mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS/BAS)
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., EPA, electrical or mechanical licenses) are advantageous
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work night shifts consistently and respond to urgent issues
