Network Engineer - Hollywood FL

The Network Engineer is responsible for the planning, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of network technologies across the organization. A central focus of the position is supporting and securing the network infrastructure for a large-scale Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) project. This individual holds operational responsibility for routing, switching, and voice systems—both hardware and software—and oversees the coordination and delivery of these network resources to support project initiatives. The Network Engineer ensures high network availability and performance while supporting the daily operations of internal business units. In addition to collaborating closely with external technical teams on SCADA-related efforts, the role also upholds governance, security compliance, and standardization across the enterprise network. This is an exempt position reporting to the IT Network & Unified Communications Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a primary liaison for network support, including SCADA-related needs, ensuring timely coordination with internal and field teams.
  • Manage and maintain enterprise and operational network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless access points, fiber links, and remote systems to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Collaborate with Information Security and compliance teams to implement secure segmentation, access control, and visibility across IT and OT networks.
  • Monitor network health using tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco Catalyst Center, Cisco ISE, and syslog/SNMP, and respond to performance issues proactively.
  • Provide Tier 3 support for complex network issues and lead incident resolution efforts, including root cause analysis and implementation of long-term fixes.
  • Participate in infrastructure projects, site inspections, and utility-related validations to support network deployments and upgrades.
  • Support enterprise-wide initiatives such as Cisco SD-WAN and SDA rollouts, datacenter upgrades (e.g., Nexus 7K replacements), and network refreshes involving switches, access points, UPS systems, and fiber expansion.
  • Deliver general network support, troubleshooting, and implementation services across departments, facilities, and buildings.
  • Install, configure, and manage advanced network hardware and software, including routing/switching, IP telephony, security appliances, and remote access systems.
  • Coordinate with service providers for incident resolution and change requests, ensuring SLA compliance; may serve as point of contact for SCADA WAN circuits.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and third-party vendors to evaluate and deploy new network technologies, ensuring compatibility with existing infrastructure.
  • Assist in disaster recovery planning, failover testing, and performance optimization efforts.
  • Support integration of emerging technologies such as SDN, IoT, and network automation into enterprise and SCADA environments.
  • Participate in vulnerability assessments and maintain security best practices across IT and OT networks.
  • Provide after-hours support as needed and participate in an on-call rotation for network operations.
  • Attend meetings, training sessions, and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Proficient in configuring and managing Cisco networking equipment (Catalyst, Nexus, ISR, ASA, Meraki) and technologies such as SD-WAN, SDA, and Catalyst Center.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC), as well as OT/ICS security best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of network security principles, including firewalls, segmentation, ACLs, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience with high availability network designs and supporting infrastructure such as redundant power and UPS systems.
  • Skilled in using network monitoring and management platforms like SolarWinds, Cisco Catalyst Center, Cisco ISE, and NetFlow tools.

Professional Skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Certifications
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is required.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification is preferred.

Technical Proficiency
  • Proficient in configuring and supporting Cisco routing and switching technologies.

Additional Requirements
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Ability to travel on occasion.

The position may involve lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity for close work and the ability to adjust focus are necessary. Regular travel across field locations and infrastructure facilities is required, and operating a company vehicle may be part of the role.
