Cognizant is seeking a Network Engineer in El Segundo, CA/Hybrid.

Role Description

• Define and refine network architecture standards that address the requirements to support customers’ requirements.
• Partner with service providers and network hardware/software vendors to define solution configurations that leverage latest capabilities and provide stable and reliable operations.
• Define and implement service standards and practices that align IT services with the needs of the business. Define and monitor adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLA) and industry best practices.
• Create, maintain, implement, and test appropriate contingency plans.
• Collaborate with other network architects to provide integrated network solutions that incorporate wireless and wired access, data center and hybrid cloud connectivity, remote access, and network security.
• Collaborate with other squads on services and applications integration and optimization of network infrastructure
• Troubleshoot complex network performance issues with other network engineers to identify root cause and recommend solutions.
• Coach and mentor team members, peers, and clients on the execution of processes and procedures

Skills & Requirements

• Minimum, 10 years of experience in the field of network.
• Minimum 5-6 years’ experience in Network security architecture, design, or operations experience.
• Should have strong understanding in any one of the following infrastructure areas (Datacenter, Campus LAN-WIFI, IP services or remote access services.)
• Understanding of core Network technologies (Routing, Switching, Firewalls, etc.)
• Experience troubleshooting complex network issues and designing solutions to simplify and better instrument solutions
• Routing/Switching: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MST, PVST, L2 switching
• Broad technical knowledge of the R&S, Data center and its components: Applications, Network, Server, and projects surrounding their planning, design, implementation, operation, and optimization.
• Architectural knowledge of virtualization tools and concepts is a bonus, to help architecture refresh discussions.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills: ability to communicate technology strategy and architecture approach to engineers, executives, and customers.
• Monitoring and troubleshooting of LAN / W- Good knowledge on DHCP / DNS and other networking protocols.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and escalate production problems affecting network infrastructure
• Co-coordinating with Carriers and working on troubleshooting on WAN links. Escalating issues at carrier end and driving issues till resolution
• Troubleshoot and resolve telco issues – resolution to be driven by engineer
• Troubleshoot, and escalate production problems affecting network infrastructure
• Drive impacting issues end to end and escalate if required
• Good Knowledge of QOS and multicasting required
• Hands-on knowledge of Monitoring and troubleshooting of LAN/WAN.
• Advanced understanding in configuring and troubleshooting Routing protocols like RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, ISIS and BGP etc.
• Experience with working cloud technologies (Viptela SDWAN, Meraki)
• Experience in troubleshooting LAN technologies like VTP , STP, Port-channel etc.
• Understanding of Gateway redundancy protocols like HSRP, VRRP, GLBP
• Good understating of cisco routers and switches such as 2800 , 2900, 3750 , 3900, ASR, ISR, 6500, 4500, Nexus platforms
• Should have understanding of GRE, IPsec, site to site VPN, DMVPN, GetVPN
• Understanding of VSS, VPC, Stack switching, DC technologies etc.
• Understanding and troubleshooting LAN wireless issues, WLC, IOS upgrade on routers and switches, replacing devices in network
• Understanding of Aruba wireless is an advantage.
• Co-coordinating with Carriers and working on troubleshooting on WAN links. Escalating issues at carrier end and driving issues till resolution
• Troubleshoot, and escalate production problems affecting network infrastructure
• Hands on experience on network monitoring and ticketing tool like HPNA, ITSM Remedy etc.
• Should have Hardware knowledge on devices like 7600, 6500, Nexus Series, 3750 etc.
• Should have experience in troubleshooting complex network issues
