Our client is seeking a IT Network Liaison in for a remote opportunity
Role Description
Consultant will support and maintain large scale, mission-critical systems. This role demands the ability to think clearly, act decisively, and make sound judgments—especially under pressure or in high-stress situations.
• Provide expert-level troubleshooting and problem-solving for complex technical issues.
• Learn and apply new technologies, equipment behaviours, and diagnostic methods quickly and effectively.
• Balance focused, detail-oriented tasks with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
• This position serves as Energy Services’ IT Project Analyst, collaborating with technical engineers and acting as a technical liaison with other IT entities on campus.
• Providing IT technical expertise and consultation to Energy Services managers, engineers, and staff.
• Serving as a subject matter expert for the department in designing systems infrastructure to solve recurring problems.
• Providing technical consultation and project management on complex projects.
• Assist with the installation, modification, or enhancement of utility operating and control systems.
• Coordinating IT plans with department leadership, Finance & Operations IT, ITS, and other campus stakeholders.
• Assisting with Energy Services IT resource planning and budget development.
Skills & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of experience in operations analysis and design, systems programming, or a closely related area; or candidate can have a Bachelors in an unrelated field with four (4) years exp or candidate can have an Associates in an IT related field with five (5) years exp
• Minimum of three years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory in a medium to large-scale enterprise environment.
• Proficient in supporting and administering Microsoft desktop and server operating systems.
• Strong working knowledge of core network services and protocols, including:
• DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and firewall rule configuration
• Group Policy implementation and management
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), including: Software and update deployment; Application and package creation and distribution
• Skilled in scripting and programming, including:
• PowerShell, C#, and JavaScript
• Experience working with SQL Server:
• Writing and optimizing SQL queries
• Understanding and working with database table structures
• Background in web application development, with the ability to investigate, diagnose, and resolve system-related issues efficiently.
• Must be able to safely and legally operate a motor vehicle for transportation throughout the Town of Chapel Hill.
• Maintenance and support duties require safe use of hand tools, including power drills and cutting equipment.
• Must be capable of identifying and mitigating safety hazards related to physical, electrical, chemical, biological, and other potential risks.
