Our client is seeking a Fullstack Software Engineer in Durham, NC.
Role Description
We are seeking two experienced Full Stack Software Engineers to join our growing team on a contract-to-hire basis. These engineers will contribute to a variety of development initiatives, supporting both new feature development and ongoing system enhancements. This is a hybrid role based in Durham, NC, with the potential for full-time conversion based on performance and budget approval.
• Develop and maintain full stack applications using React, TypeScript, and Node.js
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, design, and engineering
• Contribute to both new development and bug fixes (initial onboarding will focus on bug resolution)
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and agile ceremonies
• Potentially support DevOps tasks if experienced with Terraform and AWS
• Implement scalable REST APIs and application UIs
• Identify bottlenecks and improve software efficiency
• Troubleshoot and fix bugs
• Contribute towards unit tests and test-automation
• Documentation for internal and external clients
Skills & Requirements
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript
• Hands-on experience with React and Node.js
• Comfortable working across both front-end and back-end (50/50 split)
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or related field (required for full-time conversion)
• Must be local to the Durham, NC area and able to work onsite 3 days/week
• Good understanding of relational database systems
• Strong bias toward action and ownership
• Exceptional communication skills
• Experience with DevOps tools and practices, especially Terraform
• Familiarity with AWS and Bitbucket
• Ability to quickly ramp up on existing systems and contribute to new projects
• Cloud experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Writing well-documented REST APIs
