Your new role
The Energy Systems Engineer will focus on the development of Electric Vehicle (EV) Thermal Management Systems to meet efficiency and range objectives for Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs). The role includes achieving thermal targets for the high-voltage battery, electric drive motor, power inverter, electronic components, and cabin systems under all drive cycles.

• Design hydraulic and thermal cooling circuits for cabin, battery, and electric drive motor loops.
• Conduct vehicle testing and develop control strategies to fulfill all system functional requirements.
• Identify and implement enhancements to thermal management architecture and controls to optimize drivetrain efficiency and reduce power consumption.
• Develop test plans and timelines aligned with system requirements, including controls and subsystem integration.
• Coordinate hardware tests and refine system configurations to improve heat transfer performance.
• Provide vehicle test data correlation to simulation models and support the development of test methodologies to characterize thermal dynamics.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with design, simulation, and laboratory teams to achieve program milestones and support production launches.
• Communicate project progress and results effectively; prepare and present detailed technical reports to DRE leadership.

What You'll Need to Succeed
• Interest or experience in thermal engineering areas such as powertrain cooling, climate control, or thermal protection.
• 6–8 years of experience in thermal management or related academic research in powertrain systems.
• Basic knowledge of DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and DVP&Rs (Design Verification Plans & Reports).
• Demonstrated interest and competence in the design, testing, and validation of thermal systems.
• Understanding of powertrain cooling system development and interactions with climate control and other vehicle systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (BSME or BSEE)
