A privately held RE development firm headquartered in New Jersey is expanding its in-house construction division to support a rapidly growing portfolio of mixed-use and commercial projects specifically across South Plainfield where they have a 45-acre site under development. With over 6,000+ units currently under management and plans to double that in the next five years, the firm is investing heavily in its internal construction capabilities. Within their Construction Division as an Estimator & Purchaser, you’ll be responsible for preparing accurate quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and material procurement for excavation, grading, utilities, and site development work. You’ll work directly with the Division Manager and General Super to validate budgets, secure competitive pricing, and coordinate timely deliveries. You’ll also collaborate with the Dispatcher and Production Coordinator to ensure seamless material flow and cost-effective operations.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Ideally, a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred)
  • 3–5 years of experience in excavation, site work, or civil construction estimating and purchasing
  • Strong knowledge of site development materials (aggregates, concrete, pipe, asphalt, fill, etc.)
  • Proficiency in takeoff and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-screen Take-off, HeavyBid, or similar)
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities
  • Collaborative mindset with field and logistics teams
  • High attention to detail with strong cost analysis and budgeting capabilities

What you'll get in return
