Role:

An Energy Modeler plays a crucial role in helping businesses reduce energy consumption and enhance sustainability. They analyze energy systems, identify inefficiencies, and develop strategies to optimize energy usage. By leveraging building energy simulation software and other modeling tools, energy models contribute to cost savings, environmental impact reduction, and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

  • Energy Analysis and Modeling:

  • Utilize energy modeling software (such as EnergyPlus and eQUEST) to create simulations of buildings and energy systems.
  • Identify weaknesses in existing energy systems and propose solutions to enhance efficiency.
  • Analyze energy consumption patterns and recommend improvements.

Sustainability Strategies:

  • Develop strategies to reduce energy costs while meeting sustainability goals.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate energy-efficient design principles.
  • Evaluate renewable energy options and assess their feasibility.
  • Data Collection and Interpretation:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to energy systems and industry trends.
  • Stay informed about market developments, regulations, and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in the sustainability industry (internships, volunteer work, or employment).
  • Familiarity with energy modeling software.
