A well-established building systems consulting firm is partnered with HAYS Recruitment to hire an experienced Energy Engineer with strong project management capabilities. This firm works closely with owners, institutions, and developers to deliver data-driven energy efficiency, decarbonization, and compliance solutions across complex building portfolios. You’ll be joining a tight-knit, technically strong team with direct exposure to clients and decision-makers.
Your new role
- Manage energy and sustainability projects from planning through implementation
- Perform detailed energy analysis, feasibility studies, and savings calculations with minimal oversight
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, coordinating schedules, deliverables, and expectations
- Translate technical findings into clear recommendations for building owners and stakeholders
- Coordinate internal engineering staff, contractors, and utility representatives to execute projects
- Support incentive applications, compliance reporting, and project documentation
- Balance hands-on technical work with project management responsibilities across multiple engagements
What you’ll need to succeed
- Background in energy engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
- Experience performing energy audits, retro-commissioning, or building performance analysis
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in energy modeling tools, spreadsheets, and data analysis
- Familiarity with NYC energy and carbon regulations (e.g., LL87, LL97, benchmarking)
- Working knowledge of NY utility incentive programs (ConEd, NYSERDA)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client-facing work
