Your new role
- Lead and perform ASHRAE Level I and II energy audits, Local Law 87 (LL87) audits, and retro-commissioning studies
- Support analysis and development of GHG emission calculations (LL97), climate action plans, and decarbonization roadmaps
- Conduct energy site assessments of building systems to identify energy conservation measures (ECMs) and decarbonization measures (DCMs)
- Develop building and campus energy models using energy modeling software and/or Excel calculations
- Create building-wide energy and GHG emissions reduction plans through utility and systems analysis
- Generate ideas and analytical tools for ECMs/DCMs based on energy engineering expertise
- Evaluate feasibility, energy savings, rebate programs, and conduct financial analyses for identified measures
- Test and retro-commission building systems to ensure compliance with NYC Local Laws
- Draft energy efficiency reports including ASHRAE Level I & II audits, LL87 compliance reports, and assist in climate action and decarbonization roadmap reports
- Communicate findings and support meetings with clients, management companies, building owners, and staff
- Oversee and train interns or entry-level engineers in energy analyses and on-site data collection
- Assist lead engineers on multiple ongoing energy-related projects
- Perform other duties as required
What you'll need to succeed
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field or equivalent building energy science degree
- 2–5 years of experience in the energy sector, including NYC Local Laws 85, 87, and 97
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency concepts, building energy science, HVAC systems, and energy resources
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced expertise in Excel
- Experience (beginner to intermediate) with modeling software such as DesignBuilder (preferred), eQuest, or TRACE 3D Plus, and Excel energy calculations
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with retro-commissioning of building systems and equipment
- Experience with energy modeling programs (DesignBuilder preferred)
- Familiarity with ASHRAE 90.1 standard
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or equivalent certification (completed or in progress)
