Director of Financial Systems – Role Overview
We are looking for a Director of Financial Systems to oversee the organization’s financial technology environment and guide its long‑term strategic direction. This leader will be responsible for ensuring our financial platforms are secure, reliable, and optimized, while driving improvements that support operational efficiency and informed decision‑making.
What You’ll Lead
- Set the vision for how financial systems support the organization’s goals and continuously evolve with business needs.
- Build, coach, and develop a strong, collaborative team that manages daily operations and long‑term enhancements for financial applications.
- Introduce new ideas, creative thinking, and innovative solutions to resolve technical challenges and improve system performance.
- Partner closely with Finance, IT, and other departments to translate business requirements into effective system capabilities.
- Strengthen data integrity, system security, and compliance across all financial platforms.
- Oversee the evaluation, selection, implementation, and integration of financial software and related tools.
- Manage budgets, resource planning, vendor relationships, and contract negotiations related to financial technologies.
- Guide reporting, analytics, and data management efforts to support financial leadership and organizational planning.
- Maintain consistent engagement during core business hours and participate in special projects as needed.
What You Bring
- A track record of approaching complex issues with creativity and a solutions‑focused mindset.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues in high‑impact financial systems.
- Experience developing strategy and aligning system roadmaps with financial and organizational objectives.
- Technical depth in financial software, databases, system architecture, security practices, and project delivery.
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, financial operations, and reporting requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Familiarity with (or willingness to learn) Microsoft 365 tools.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, or a related discipline; advanced education or certifications are advantageous.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience working with financial systems or financial technology.
- Background in professional services or similar environments is a bonus.
