Our client is seeking a Design Engineer I in Woodbury, MN

Role Description

The worker will collaborate with scientists and engineers to update and maintain electrical drawing packages, incorporate redlined changes, and support small design efforts using 3D CAD and assembly tools. This position will play an important role in helping the team improve documentation accuracy, implement design changes efficiently, and support development and inspection systems in a lab environment. The role is directly tied to Process Informatics and supports both development and implementation activities.

• Update electrical drawings and documentation based on redlines provided by engineers and project team members.
• Revise schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and related CAD documentation to reflect design changes accurately.
• Maintain drawing accuracy, revision control, and documentation consistency across projects.
• Support small design activities using 3D CAD for brackets, fixtures, simple components, and assembly-related updates.
• Assist with assembly of modules and sub-systems used in development and inspection applications.
• Coordinate with engineers, technicians, and scientists to clarify drawing changes and ensure design intent is captured correctly.
• Support testing, reporting, documentation, and coordination related to system builds, updates, and installations.
• Fixture systems onto weblines and remove systems from weblines as needed.
• Work in a lab environment while following PPE, lab safety, and machine safety requirements.
• Perform hands-on problem solving with moderate direction from the team and manager.

Skills & Requirements

• At least 1 - 2 years of experience using electrical CAD software to create and revise schematics, wiring diagrams, and drawing packages.
• Experience incorporating redlined drawing changes into controlled documentation.
• Ability to create, revise, and maintain clear technical documentation and drawing revisions.
• Experience with 3D CAD for small design updates, simple parts, or assembly support.
• Experience supporting assembly of small mechanical or electromechanical components and sub-systems.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to ensure accuracy in drawing updates and revision control.
• Ability to lift and move items up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in a standing/walking lab environment while following PPE and safety requirements.
• Experience working in laboratory settings.
• Experience supporting electromechanical development teams.
• Familiarity with assembly documentation, bills of materials, and revision tracking.
• Experience with software testing.
• Strong problem-solving skills in hands-on engineering or development environments.
• Education: Associate's degree or higher in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering, CAD Drafting, Industrial Technology, Machine Tool, or related technical field.
