About the Company
A local County Clerk of Circuit Court is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead and oversee all financial operations of the organization. This is a high-impact executive role responsible for ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and long-term fiscal sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as a key advisor on financial planning, budgeting, and fiscal policy
Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making and organizational performance
Lead all accounting functions including accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and cash receipting
Ensure strong internal controls, risk management practices, and efficient department operations
Develop and manage annual budgets
Deliver monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports in accordance with governmental standards
Coordinate and manage internal and external audits
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Recommend updates to policies and procedures as laws evolve
Directly supervise Accounting Department staff
Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
Minimum of 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
Strong knowledge of governmental accounting, budgeting, and auditing standards
Certifications (required or obtainable within 3 years):
CPA, CGFO, or CPFO
