Assistant Resident Engineer to support the construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities

With decades of Specialized Engineering Planning, Design & Construction Management experience, this high-performing Consulting firm is seeking a highly motivated Assistant Resident Engineer to join their NYC Metro CM team. They specialize in the planning, design, and construction management of water and wastewater treatment facilities and utilities throughout the country, ensuring every community they support meets Water Quality and Water Supply Goals.

Your new role

As the Assistant Resident Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing the construction, coordination, documentation, and inspection activities for various water and wastewater facilities. You’ll work closely with the project Resident Engineer to ensure successful project execution.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Quality Review: Evaluate the performance and deliverables of the Construction Management (CM) team.
  • Contract Compliance: Ensure adherence to contract documents and approved submittals.
  • Inspector Daily Reports: Review daily reports submitted by inspectors.
  • CM Administration: Maintain high standards of CM administration.
  • Risk Documentation: Document project risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Invoice Processing, Shop Drawings & RFI's: Handle contract invoices efficiently and process shop drawings and respond to RFI's.
  • Permit Management: Facilitate permit processing.
  • Change Orders: Assist in processing change orders.
  • Subcontractor Approvals: Review and approve subcontractors.
  • Project Documentation Tools: Manage project documentation software.
  • Coordination with Operating Staff: Integrate with facility operating staff to ensure smooth maintenance during construction.
  • Schedule Management: Monitor project schedules.
  • Safety Tracking: Ensure safety protocols are followed.
  • Project Closeout: Facilitate the closeout process.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management.
  • Professional Registration: Professional Engineer (P.E.) or Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T) preferred but not required. Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification is also desirable.
  • Construction Management Experience: Familiarity with construction management, construction inspection, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and related PC software used in design and construction projects.
