Assistant Facilities Manager

Your new company

A privately held real estate investment firm with a long-standing reputation for stability and trust is seeking a facilities professional for one of its flagship properties. This highly secure, 700,000 sq. ft. mixed-use building serves as a major hub for the jewelry industry, featuring corporate offices, retail spaces, and small jewelry kiosks. Nearly all tenants are jewelry businesses, making this property a critical center for wholesale and manufacturing operations. The company values long-term relationships and operational excellence.

Your new role

We are looking for an Assistant Facilities Manager to join the team in a succession role. You will work closely with the current building operations lead (retiring soon) to learn the property’s systems, vendor relationships, and operational processes. The expectation is that you will transition into the Facilities Manager position within approximately three years. Key responsibilities include:

  • Shadowing the current operations lead for at least one year to gain critical knowledge.
  • Coordinating vendors, janitorial teams, and maintenance staff.
  • Learning building systems (HVAC, fire alarms, electrical concepts) and unique processes, including specialized systems supporting jewelry manufacturing.
  • Managing compliance with fire/life safety standards and permits.
  • Assisting with budgeting, invoice coding, and variance reporting.
  • Supporting security operations and emergency responsiveness in a high-security environment.

What you'll need to succeed

  • 8–12 years of experience in facilities management or property operations.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and understand basic construction concepts.
  • Familiarity with building systems (HVAC, electrical, fire safety) preferred.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to manage diverse stakeholders.
  • Local to the property for quick response in emergencies.

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive salary ($100,000–$130,000 DOE).
  • Health, other benefits and long-term career growth.
  • Opportunity to work in a unique, high-security environment serving the jewelry industry.
  • A collaborative, family-oriented culture that values trust and stability.
