Our client is seeking an Application and Platform cost optimization in Remote.
Job Responsibilities
• Architect and implement scalable data pipelines using Databricks-native features such as Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Workflows.
• Ensure solutions are modular, reusable, and aligned with platform best practices.
Optimize Databricks Workloads for Performance & Cost
• Conduct in-depth reviews of notebooks, job configurations, cluster sizing, and execution patterns.
• Analyze data volumes, run times, and resource utilization to identify inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
• Perform design reviews of existing data workflows to assess performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Recommend appropriate Databricks resources and configurations based on workload characteristics and business requirements.
Implement FinOps Optimization Strategies
• Assess job design, source/target tables, and cluster usage to recommend right-sizing and autoscaling strategies.
• Redesign pipelines for incremental loading and efficient data refresh cycles.
• Pilot revised job designs, validate data quality, and document runtime metrics.
• Refactor code to improve performance and reduce compute costs.
• Finalize optimized implementations and promote to production environments.
Establish Standards & Governance
• Define and enforce coding standards, job orchestration patterns, and cost governance policies.
Establish and promote best practices for Databricks development, deployment, and cost management.
Automate Testing & Deployment
• Integrate CI/CD pipelines using Databricks Repos and Jobs API.
• Identify opportunities for test automation and implement validation frameworks to ensure data integrity.
Develop Implementation Roadmaps
• Provide structured 30/60/90-day plans for FinOps optimization, including phased rollout of improvements, stakeholder alignment, and success metrics.
Demonstrate Strong Consultative Skills
• Facilitate workshops, present findings, and guide teams through optimization strategies.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients and internal teams, providing insights and recommendations grounded in best practices and platform expertise.
Stay Current with Databricks Innovations
• Continuously explore new features such as serverless compute, Lakeflow Declarative Pipelines etc.
• Recommend adoption strategies to improve performance and reduce operational overhead.
