A well-established and growing MEP consulting firm based in New York City is seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer to join its team. The firm specializes in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing design for a diverse portfolio of transportation, EV charging stations, and water sectors.
Your new role
This role is ideal for candidates with 1–5 years of experience in electrical systems design. The selected engineer will work under the guidance of senior staff, contributing to the design and documentation of electrical systems including power distribution and low-voltage infrastructure. The position offers exposure to a wide range of project types and phases, from schematic design through construction administration.
What you'll need to succeed
- Assist in the design and layout of electrical systems for buildings across various sectors
- Prepare construction documents including drawings, specifications, and load calculations
- Perform circuiting, equipment selection, and code compliance reviews
- Conduct site visits and surveys to support design development and documentation
- Apply relevant codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NYC Electrical Code, ASHRAE)
- Participate in internal design reviews and contribute to quality control efforts
- Support project delivery and client communication as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- 1–5 years of experience in electrical design for building systems
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
- Solid understanding of electrical codes and standards
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
