As they continue to apply that century-long legacy across both interior and core & shell ground up project work, they have adapted a modern flair that is incorporated into their hands-on approach, helping shape the city we call home.
With a stellar reputation in-tow, they are looking to continue providing clients with the service they have become renowned for within the New York construction market as they look to hire a Senior Estimator to support their core & shell division.
Your new role
This role as Senior Estimator is tasked with overseeing all pre-construction efforts for their ground-up core and shell business, covering the following sectors: Commercial, Education /Cultural, Healthcare /Life Sciences, and High-rise Residential developments. Project values can exceed $100M, so this individual will need to have a track record of bidding and being awarded similar work across the NYC market.
Day-to-day duties & responsibilities
- Experience across multiple construction contracts including GC, lump-sum, CM, and conceptual drawings from initial RFP request through bid award.
- Review and write full general condition estimates and analysis on cash flow basis with provided CM staffing levels and schedule.
- Review and prepare construction cost estimates with quantity take-offs and unit pricing.
- Review, evaluate and level subcontractor bid proposals.
- Review and prepare scope breakdown and construction documents per trade, including scope and project-specific information.
- Conduct site walk-throughs and site evaluations for existing conditions, scope and qualifications.
- Assist contractors to confirm scope by reviewing plans and specifications.
- Contact manufacturers to confirm product specification clarity prior to advising the PM team for RFI.
- Manage scope documents and riders during leveling and procurement.
- Prepare recommendation packages for review, approval and submission.
- Roll-out unified process and bid management for the group
- Monitor subcontractor award and audit vendor performance whilst managing existing subcontractor relationships over multiple projects as part of project leveling and scoping.
- Interview and engage with new potential subcontractors to explore feasibility
- Experience with on-screen take-off, Office Suite, building connected, and construction connect would be advantageous.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed in the role of Senior Construction Estimator, this individual will have a minimum of 12+ years’ experience competitively bidding with a New York-based general contractor, having been awarded project work throughout all key project sectors listed above. The successful individual will have proven man-management experience overseeing and developing a winning team.
