Senior Estimator - Core & Shell - GC | CM

Your new company

I am partnered with an iconic General Contractor | Construction Management firm headquartered here in Manhattan that has helped shape the NYC skyline over the past century. As they continue to apply that century-long legacy across both interior and core & shell ground up project work, they have adapted a modern flair that is incorporated into their hands-on approach, helping shape the city we call home.

With a stellar reputation in-tow, they are looking to continue providing clients with the service they have become renowned for within the New York construction market as they look to hire a Senior Estimator to support their core & shell division.

Your new role

This role as Senior Estimator is tasked with overseeing all pre-construction efforts for their ground-up core and shell business, covering the following sectors: Commercial, Education /Cultural, Healthcare /Life Sciences, and High-rise Residential developments. Project values can exceed $100M, so this individual will need to have a track record of bidding and being awarded similar work across the NYC market.

Day-to-day duties & responsibilities
  • Experience across multiple construction contracts including GC, lump-sum, CM, and conceptual drawings from initial RFP request through bid award.
  • Review and write full general condition estimates and analysis on cash flow basis with provided CM staffing levels and schedule.
  • Review and prepare construction cost estimates with quantity take-offs and unit pricing.
  • Review, evaluate and level subcontractor bid proposals.
  • Review and prepare scope breakdown and construction documents per trade, including scope and project-specific information.
  • Conduct site walk-throughs and site evaluations for existing conditions, scope and qualifications.
  • Assist contractors to confirm scope by reviewing plans and specifications.
  • Contact manufacturers to confirm product specification clarity prior to advising the PM team for RFI.
  • Manage scope documents and riders during leveling and procurement.
  • Prepare recommendation packages for review, approval and submission.
  • Roll-out unified process and bid management for the group
  • Monitor subcontractor award and audit vendor performance whilst managing existing subcontractor relationships over multiple projects as part of project leveling and scoping.
  • Interview and engage with new potential subcontractors to explore feasibility
  • Experience with on-screen take-off, Office Suite, building connected, and construction connect would be advantageous.

What you'll need to succeed
