Our client is seeking a Linux Engineer in New York city\ Hybrid.
Role Description
Assist with a migration affecting Linux access.
The migration involves using CyberArk.
The team does not manage Linux access directly; this is handled by Jerry's team.
Responsibilities:
Define and secure internal processes for accessing Linux environments using CyberArk.
Migrate all existing Linux servers to CyberArk (Windows migration was completed last year).
Collaborate with the InfoSec team, technology team, and other departments for the migration.
Engage with P72 employees across different departments to explain and implement processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Linux Engineers and Support team members to assess current sudo and root access practices.
Work closely with users and managers across Technology and Business units to understand the necessity of elevated access.
Partner with the Security Architect to design a future state for managing user access in Linux environments.
Facilitate the full remediation process, including discovery, analysis, remediation planning, and scheduling, while ensuring thorough testing and validation,
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to ensure understanding and compliance with access management policies.
Skills & Requirements
Requirements:
Senior-level experience in Linux privileges and remediation.
Ability to create a structure for reviewing access and collecting responses.
Strong communication skills to explain the project and processes to users.
Experience with automation processes (Centrify/Delinea and Ansible is a plus).
Preference for candidates with a stable job history (loyalty to companies/projects).
Qualifications:
5–10 years of hands-on experience as a Linux Engineer, managing, supporting, and troubleshooting complex Linux environments.
Proven ability to diagnose and resolve system issues efficiently in production and enterprise settings.
Deep understanding of Linux architecture, including kernel, system libraries, file systems, and process management.
Strong knowledge of user and group management, permissions, and security best practices, ensuring systems are hardened and compliant with industry standards.
Excellent communication skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders and convey technical concepts clearly.
Strong task management skills to coordinate and execute access management initiatives effectively.
Experience with CyberArk, Centrify, and Ansible is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
Business analysis skills to understand and document business requirements related to access management.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Additional Information:
The head of the Linux team (technology) is based in NY.
A new overall head of Linux is being hired to secure all infrastructure and access provisioning.
The project is planned to be multi-year, starting with a 12-month contract and potential for additional projects.
