License & Permit Specialist – Contract – Remote – $24.00 - $25.11/hr.

The final salary or hourly wage, as applicable, paid to each candidate/applicant for this position is ultimately dependent on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s/applicant’s qualifications, skills, and level of experience as well as the geographical location of the position.

Cognizant is seeking License & Permit Specialist for a Remote opportunity.

Skills & Requirements

Qualifications:
• High school diploma, along with associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field or High school diploma, along with 10+ years in the business license and permitting field.
• Experience: 3 + years of experience in business licensing and permitting field, including experience in customer service and administrative support.
• Preparing and submitting applications for various retail licenses and permits required. Including Gross Receipts calculation and submission.
• Ensure that all applications are accurately completed with required data before submitting license or permit application to jurisdictions and payment disbursements.
• Communicating and liaising with relevant government and regulatory bodies during research and submission efforts. Including monitoring centralized email inbox and responding to all incoming inquires and executing follow up protocols to ensure timely response and resolution
• Maintain records of issued and expired licenses and permits to accurately track renewal requirements
• Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to licenses and permits

Skill set:
• We are seeking a detail-oriented License and Permit Specialist to process and monitor retail licenses and permits. Candidates should have a strong understanding of local, state, and federal permit and licensing requirements, and have excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to interpret information from jurisdictions and apply logic and understanding to license requirements and application mandates.
• Proficiency in reviewing, monitoring and completing licensing and/or permit applications
Strong attention to detail on every aspect of the business license/permit process. Requires thorough review and audit of all licensing applications.
• Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with licensing and permit processing
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Calling with jurisdiction and clients).
• Familiarity with ERP/Oracle, licensing tracking tools, and other relevant applications.
