Sr DevOps Engineer – Permanent – Raleigh, NC/Hybrid – $97,500-$ 150,000

Our client is seeking a Sr DevOps Engineer in Raleigh, NC/Hybrid.


Role Description


We are looking for Engineers that can work as a blended DevOps Engineer, from an operational and software engineering standpoint. They will work alongside 4 other DevOps Engineers (all in CA), reporting to a DevOps Manager, mastering a variety of production technology stacks. Their role involves taking responsibility for site performance, uptime and scalability, developing and maintaining accurate monitoring dashboards, alerting and runbook documentation suited to each product. They will also be responsible for Identifying technical problems and develop solutions. Additionally they will partner with application engineering teams to understand product needs, support test environments, and manage CI/CD pipelines. Lastly they will be responsible for building and proposing architecture changes that will allows the company to consolidate, simplify, and streamline their technology, company-wide. They will also develop tooling for deployment and release processes


Skills & Requirements


• Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science/engineering or a related discipline7+ years of professional hands-on software engineering or devops experience.

• Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred; if someone has 10 years engineering with no degree, we can submit; but they have to run it by the COO.

• Someone that started in programming, then moved into creation of full stack features/projects, gravitated towards Devops and has experience running large scale systems with containers, Kubernetes, cloud environments, observability.

• This person has built tools to monitor, and they’ve jumped in to fix issues. They’ve also played a role to architect/fix things.

• Public cloud provider experience (GCP is a plus) but would take AWS.

• Experience with common service technologies like web servers, message queues, load balancers, and databases.

• Experience with containerized cloud solutions utilizing Docker and Kubernetes.

• Must have Kubernetes but if they’ve worked with something other/similar to Docker, that is okay.

• Fluency in devops concerns such as source control, builds, deployments, networking, scaling, and monitoring.

• Flexibility to work with a variety of technologies and legacy systems, balanced against a passion to streamline and modernize.

• Experience with at least one programming language like Java, Go, Python, Bash, Perl , C/C++ being last resort.

• Skill at troubleshooting problems across the stack, providing both immediate fixes as well as long term solutions.

• Strong communication and time management skills.

• Passion for improving education through technology.
