PAGE PERFORMANCE

PAGE PERFORMANCE
Understand our page performance standards
All Hays website including microsites and portals (e.g. My Account) web pages must be tested for their total page weight and download time (file and asset sizes combined),
For exceptions, please talk to the Global Digital Products team.
Page weight and performances targets
First contentful paint - the page is be loaded by the web browser and rendered within 1,040 milliseconds unless an exception is agreed.
Largest contentful paint / Time to Interactive - All content above the fold must be rendered within 1,500 milliseconds and reactive to user input.
Page complexity – The HTML of a web page will not exceed:
- 1500 elements
- 60 child elements to any parent element
- A depth of 32 elements
- All pages should have a maximum page weight of 500KB and a minimum performance score of 70. This target is based upon the following assumptions for each page component:
- The DOM interactive metric is our benchmark for page performance.
- All required JS and CSS resources should be included from the HTML page to avoid long dependency chains.
Use of images
- Should be no bigger than 500k.
- Should be in jpg and png file formats
- Do not use headshots of Hays staff on any of our websites
Videos
- Short embedded site videos should be no larger than 2Mb
- Larger videos should be hosted in our preferred video streaming service
