Director of Preconstruction for Water Infrastructure projects

As the Director of Preconstruction, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the planning and estimating phases of water infrastructure projects. Your expertise will guide the organization in making informed decisions during the preconstruction process. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, engineering, and project management, to ensure successful project outcomes.


Estimating and Budgeting:
  • Lead the preconstruction team in developing accurate cost estimates for water infrastructure projects.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary data for estimates.
  • Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other relevant documents to create detailed budgets.
Design Management:
  • Work closely with design professionals to review plans, identify potential issues, and propose value engineering solutions.
  • Ensure alignment between design intent and project feasibility.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
  • Identify project risks during the preconstruction phase and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Evaluate potential challenges related to site conditions, permitting, and regulatory compliance.
Resource Planning:
  • Assess resource needs (both personnel and materials) for successful project execution.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to secure necessary resources.
Collaboration:
  • Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Participate in project kickoff meetings and provide input on constructability and sequencing.
Project Documentation:
  • Maintain accurate records of preconstruction activities, including estimates, design changes, and risk assessments.
  • Prepare detailed reports for senior management.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in preconstruction activities.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in preconstruction, with a focus on water infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing preconstruction teams and delivering accurate estimates.
