Hays Property Cup 2008 – It’s a hat trick!

Hays Property & Surveying stormed to victory at the 2008 Property Cup after a thrilling final match against Cushman & Wakefield. Despite competing with the Champions League Final, supporters ventured out in force to cheer the teams on and the final saw some excellent football played in perfect conditions.

The curtain raiser Plate final was settled by a single goal scored after 24 minutes in the first half by Gardiner & Theobald Captain Ben Senior. Although GVA Grimley fought hard, this was enough to secure the result for Gardiner & Theobald.

The Cup final itself saw Cushman & Wakefield in a determined mood and five minutes before half time they were first to put the ball in the net, but Luke Hargreaves was denied the goal by an offside ruling. An excellent James Polson strike moments later demanded an acrobatic save by Hays’s keeper Matt Brown and a clearance off the line.

The match changed when Captain Scott Dance opened the scoring for Hays and snapped up a loose ball in the area. Although Cushman & Wakefield fought hard, there was no stopping the brilliance of Hays’s midfield star Jason Bowler, who scored three goals and secured the man of the match award. A free kick from 25 yards, a corner bent into the top right of goal and a mesmerising jink and the shot settled the result beyond doubt, with Hays ending as 4-0 winners at Millwall FC’s ground, The New Den. Duncan Bullimore, Regional Director of Hays Property & Surveying, was on hand to present the trophy to the jubilant Hays team.

Duncan Bullimore comments, ‘’Our impressive unbeaten run in the Hays Property Cup now dates back to 2006, after a third successive final triumph last week. It was a fantastic tournament this year with an exciting and competitive- final. Not only is this event a lot of fun, it’s a great way of raising money for a worthwhile charity too.’’
