SPORTS PRIZES STEAL THE SHOW AT CHARITY EVENT
Dinner suits and posh frocks were the order of the evening at the Lighthouse Club “Ladies Night” charity event at the Langstone Cliff Hotel, Dawlish. Organised by Rob Bennett from Hays Construction & Property and Susanne Furse from Luke Furse Earthmoving Ltd the evening was a tremendous success and raised a staggering £8500 for the charity.
Over 175 guests attended the glittering event for the South West brand of the construction industry charity, the Lighthouse Club. All enjoyed a sparkling evening of entertainment, including a four-course meal, raffle and an Irish bingo. However, the highlight of the evening for many was the auction, which boasted such fabulous prizes as a rugby ball kindly donated by Phil Vickery and signed by the Wasps rugby team, a rugby shirt signed by Martin Johnson, football shirts signed by Cristiano Ronaldo & Fernando Torres and a signed boxing glove from Frank Bruno.
The most contested prize of all was an England football shirt from the 1966 World Cup signed by 10 members of the winning team – a true rarity. Speedy Hire made a very generous donation of £2,050 which was presented on the evening by regional manager, Adrian Brady.
Robert Bennett, Associate at Hays Construction & Property, comments: ‘’The evening was hugely successful and everybody had a great time. Everyone was really impressed by the incredible prizes on offer in the auction and raffle and tickets sold out almost instantly. Many of the guests commented on how pleased they were to see the South West branch of the charity up and running again after five years of relative inactivity and it certainly is a fantastic start to the year – long may it continue!’’
