The suits get on site for charity - L Phillippo Post Event - Final

Recruitment consultants at the leading specialist recruitment agency Hays Trades & Labour are trading the office for a site cabin as part of their annual Suits on Site event. Lee Phillippo, from Hays on the High Street in Chelmsford, worked on a high profile construction site for the day in aid of a fantastic charity.

Lee helped contractor ISG Jackson with its £3.9 million project to build the new Flitch Green Primary School in Little Dunmow, Essex. In return for his hard work, ISG Jackson has made a generous donation to The Lighthouse Club, a charity that raises money for a range of good causes within the construction industry. Throughout the day, Lee got a taste of what it is like to work on a modern construction site and had the opportunity, under careful supervision, to try his hand at a number of skilled construction trades.

Lee says: “It was hard work, but highly satisfying to support a worthwhile charity, plus it gave me first hand experience of what is required when we place people in jobs out on site. Across the UK, we are hoping that this event will raise over £5,000 for the Lighthouse Club. Thanks to ISG Jackson and its generous donation, we are well on track to reaching this target.”

Steven Ponting, construction manager for ISG Jackson added: “The reality of working on a construction site is often far removed from the perception that many people have, so it was great to invite Lee down so he could see first hand how a modern site really works. Lee showed some real aptitude for a variety of construction trades and we wonder whether we might have sown the seed that sees him swap his office environment for one of our modern and well equipped site cabins.”
