Qualified accountants in Newcastle turning to interim work
An increasing number of qualified accountants in Newcastle are considering interim management as a valid career path, says local recruitment consultancy Hays Senior Finance. Interim registrations in 2008 are up 10 per cent compared to last year, and client demand is also experiencing a high.
“Qualified accountants are now considering interim management as a valid career path in its own right,” says Peter Howarth, Senior Regional Director at Hays Senior Finance in Newcastle. “We are seeing more and more qualified accountants inquiring about interim roles as a long-term career, rather than a stepping-stone or a way of filling the gaps. These professionals are prepared to cast a wider net than the majority of finance professionals in permanent roles.”
Interim finance professionals can now demand salaries as much as 20 per cent higher than their permanent counterparts - or more -depending on skill and expertise on offer.
“Interim managers are able to add value from day one – reducing the risks and guaranteeing immediate improvements in the business,” says Howarth. “Interim managers have already been met and referenced, enabling them to start work in a matter of hours as opposed to months.”
