Welcome to the recruitment Website of Willowgarth High School.  We are an over-subscribed, flourishing secondary school located in a rural setting to the North East of Barnsley.

In the past five years, Willowgarth has become increasingly successful, and for the last two years the school is proud to have earned the highest CVA scores, both for KS2-4 and for KS3-4, of any school across the Yorkshire and Humberside area.  There have been similar improvements demonstrated by KS3 SAT and attendance measures by the school.

Our curriculum is innovative, because we know innovation is how we improve.  At Key Stage 3, Willowgarth is one of the few schools nationally to be involved in the DCSF’s skills based pilot for the revised National curriculum.  Our KS4 curriculum provides a GCSE based core for all, complemented by vocational courses for appropriate youngsters.  To this end, Willowgarth will be amongst the first schools nationally to deliver Diplomas.

As a school, we are one of the more innovative establishments, but the initiatives we choose all support our vision of moving towards personalised learning for all.  Therefore staff development is crucial to us, whether it be the excellent support we offer to NQT entrants, our marvellous provision for GTP and PGCE trainees, or our outstanding coaching protocols to develop existing colleagues.

Pupil discipline at Willowgarth is good (Ofsted 2007) and staff morale is high (Ofsted 2007).  This means that this school provides the ideal opportunity for professionals to advance their teaching expertise.
