Assistant Director – Regeneration
and Development
£77,214 –
82,362 pa + Benefits
You may be surprised to know there are over
80 acres of brownfield site awaiting regeneration
and development within the Bath and North
East Somerset district. As a consequence,
we have launched a Vision setting out our
economic and development objectives over the
next 20 years. The Vision responds to the
needs of the Regional Spatial Strategy and
Local Plan with the intention to carry forward
physical regeneration through development
projects. There is also a need for simultaneous
economic development through support to the
region’s businesses and creation of
new employment opportunities.
As Assistant Director, you will act as an
‘intelligent client’, responsible
for the delivery of the Council’s regeneration
and development strategy, including economic
development components. You will lead a multi
disciplinary team, often utilising external
consultants, to develop a variety of complex
regeneration projects both directly for the
Council and with the private sector. Professionally
qualified or with sufficient experience in
a discipline relevant to regeneration and
built environment sectors, you will possess
previous experience of the property development
market. You will also have a proven track
record in the management and delivery of mixed-use
urban regeneration programmes, either in a
public or private sector environment.
An understanding of the relationship between
the varied facets of a successful regeneration
programme and the diverse funding streams
involved will be vital. In addition, exposure
to economic development, planning and sustainable
development would be advantageous, as would
an ability to liaise with stakeholders and
the community to achieve best practice and
cost-effective solutions.
Closing date: Friday 17th November
Please note, final interviews will be held
on Thursday 7th December.
