About Van Dalen Recycling

Van Dalen Metals Recycling and Trading is primarily involved in the collection and processing of ferrous metals and non ferrous metals.

The company was founded in 1947 at a location in Hendrik Ido Ambacht, The Netherlands, where the first scrap yard of Van Dalen commenced it’s activities.

Soon the company became a well known name in the steel industry as a reliable supplier of steel scrap and the several investments in new production equipment such as a hydraulic shear and a hydraulic baler , proved to be a good strategy to increase the volumes and different quality specifications. During 1982 the company was taken over by the present owner, Mr Rudolph van Dalen jr, and as from 1990 several strategic acquisitions were done in The Netherlands and Belgium which not only resulted in higher volumes but also in a wide variety of different grades of steel scrap, needed and used by the steel industry.

In 2000 the company founded it’s first scrap-yard in Immingham, England, and, since the 7 more scrap-yards have been founded , all at strategic locations, in England. Presently the company owns 17 steel scrap yards divided over The Netherlands, Belgium and England, running 5 shredder installations, 7 hydraulic shear installations, 3 portable hydraulic shear installations, 2 hydraulic balers and a non ferrous flotation processing yard. All the steel scrap yards are located near major motorways, waterways and short and deep sea ports, in order to have the possibility to receive the materials we buy and to ship the material we sell in the most economic way.

Until 1998 the company mainly supplied it’s products to the European Steel Industry and to several deep sea export traders. As from 1998 the company commenced it’s own activities in the deep sea export, at that time mainly to Turkey. As from 2000, the company commenced export activities to S.E. Asia and Far East also.
