Trinity is West Berkshire’s newest school, serving north Newbury and west Thatcham. Founded in 1999, it has spent its first years successfully establishing itself both on its site, within the community and nationally.
We have consistently achieved Investors in People status each year and are praised for the way in which we have involved staff closely in all the stages of our work. We gained Sports Mark in 2001, just before our very successful Ofsted inspection. We were extremely proud to be awarded Specialist School status, rare for such a new school, and then to be the first secondary school in Berkshire to receive the government’s Charter Mark for excellence in public service in 2002. Our status as a Performing Arts specialist school brings an energy and vitality to the school as well as establishing valuable partnerships within our community and recognition more widely. In May 2002 we received Arts Mark Gold and were awarded the Specialist School’s national BT Award for the most innovative use of ICT in communication with the wider community; our Performing Arts students were invited to perform at the Specialist School National Conference to great acclaim. Together these achievements acknowledge the good work that is going on here and are particularly significant for a school like Trinity as they enhance our growing reputation within the community.
Now the school aims to establish itself as a centre for excellence in teaching and learning. We have a new leadership team and exciting plans for the school. Our staff are committed and skilled professionals who have a passion for working with young people. We combine the latest technology and educational research with best-established tradition in teaching to ensure our classrooms offer every single student a chance of achieving personal excellence. A local newspaper described the school as “fizzing with energy and excitement.” I am seeking to attract staff who want to be cutting edge practitioners, who share an enthusiasm for teaching and who welcome the exciting challenges this school can offer.
Personal excellence and collective responsibility
