Message from the Leader of the Council
These are exciting times for Torridge. We have a new Chief Executive and a new approach to how we do business. Appointing John van de Laarschot from a commercial background was a groundbreaking move for the Council – and a brave one. But already we are starting to see the benefits of a different way of thinking. Our Strategic Plan is just one example of this fresh approach. It sets out the Council’s priorities for the next five years in plain, simple language. It repeats our commitment to engage with the public and to act on their wishes. This Plan will also operate at regional and national levels to enable us to develop our interests when working with partners to build a North Devon perspective for key service areas, e.g. tourism, inward investment, skills development, affordable housing etc. I have never been more confident about the future. Working together with our Councillors, staff and many partners, I am convinced we can provide the quality of services that our residents deserve.
