Omega

The OMEGA brand targets a young generation that identifies with the World of OMEGA. A world epitomised by high-profile watches worn by the likes of George Clooney, Nicole Kidman, Cindy Crawford, Michael Schumacher, Ernie Els, Ellen MacArthur, Sergio Garcia, Michelle Wie, Ian Thorpe & Michael Phelps. Since its foundation by Louis Brandt in 1848, OMEGA has continually set the pace in watchmaking history.

Throughout its 159 year history OMEGA has consistently played the role of pioneer in the field of watchmaking. Our pioneering spirit extends to fields as varied as the exploration of the universe to the exploration of the ocean depths. Our expertise is also called upon for timekeeping the world’s most prestigious sporting events.

Only one watch survived NASA’s tests – undoubtedly the toughest ever for a watch – to choose a chronograph for use in its Apollo lunar programme: the Speedmaster Professional. OMEGA’s association with space exploration has since remained legendary, with the Speedmaster still flight-qualified by NASA and chosen by the Russian space agency.

OMEGA is responsible for numerous pioneering developments in sports timing, including the world’s first 1/1000th of a second photo finish camera and the now indispensable touch pads used to time swimming competitions. OMEGA has been official timekeeper of 22 Olympic Games and will be the official timekeeper of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the Olympic Winter Games Vancouver 2010 and the 2012 London Olympic Games.
