Following the wide scale reorganisation of the NHS in October 2006, Stoke on Trent PCT became coterminous with the City Council for the first time. We have a great opportunity to work in partnership, improve Health Status, and contribute to the prosperity and regeneration of the City.

Historically, Stoke has had some challenges, but this is changing. We have a strong financial position, with resources to invest. We have a Whole Health Economy PFI that will replace both the main Acute Hospital and the Haywood Community Hospital. There are also a number of major community developments in progress that leave us well placed to implement ‘Care Closer to Home’. We are starting a whole system redesign programme with a strong focus on developing neighbourhood based services and a commitment to improving access to high quality primary care and community services.
