Living In Warwickshire

Rugby is an historic market town located within the county of Warwickshire. Famous for being the birthplace of ‘Rugby football’, it is probably best known for Rugby School – one of England’s oldest & most prestigious public schools. Thomas Hughes’s famous novel “Tom Brown’s Schooldays” was set in the school and a large part of a recent dramatisation of the novel was filmed on location at the school.

The town centre is fairly compact with many impressive architectural features and includes a large range of pubs and restaurants. For the keen shopper, there are a diversity of large chains and smaller independent stores in Rugby with out-of-town retail parks a short drive away. As a Warwickshire town, Rugby is only a short distance from Stratford upon Avon, Royal Leamington Spa and Warwick, these towns being hugely popular with visitors to the area. Shakespeare’s birthplace and the RSC appeal to literary and theatrical enthusiasts whilst nearby Warwick Castle is one of the most popular visitor attractions within the UK. For the sporting enthusiast there are a plethora of local teams and sporting venues to visit. From top flight cricket to picturesque golf courses or a day at the Warwick Races, there is something for everyone!

Bordered by Leicestershire and Northamptonshire, Rugby is situated within the heart of the Midlands and is an ideal doorway to the neighbouring counties. Rugby is at the centre of the UK’s national motorway network with links to the M1, M6 and the M45 providing access to the rest of the country. The area is also serviced by excellent rail & flight links with Birmingham International Airport on its doorstep and Coventry airport featuring low-cost airlines offering cheap flights to various destinations across Europe.
