Thames Gateway Bridge, UK

Scott Wilson was commissioned in early 2003 to manage the EIA for this major infrastructure development in East London. The bridge would provide a new crossing of the River Thames between Beckton (London Borough of Newham) and Thamesmead (London Borough of Greenwich).

The overall aim of the scheme is to improve accessibility to and within the Thames Gateway area and support the regeneration of East London, particularly in the immediately adjacent boroughs. The EIA examined all appropriate environmental and socio-economic issues; the process informed the scheme design to either avoid or control adverse environmental effects or to provide environmental mitigation measures where effects would occur.

A planning application was submitted in July 2004, along with the Environmental Statement and other supporting documents. Scott Wilson is currently supporting the client at the public inquiry by providing four expert witnesses.
