Projects > Ports & Airports Projects > Jebel Ali Port, DubaiScott Wilson have been appointed to design and supervise the infrastructure for Stage 1 of the expansion of the container port at Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirate of Dubai. This prestigious project forms the first stage of a 15-stage expansion of the port over the next decade. The work includes 2.4 kilometres of new berths, the container yard behind the berths and the supporting infrastructure and buildings necessary for a fully functioning terminal. The new port will be on reclaimed land extending seaward from the existing port and situated to the west of the Dubai Jumiera Palm Island complex.
For Scott Wilson this work continues on from the appointment in 2001 to develop the master plan for the port. The plan was developed in four phases with each phase consisting of liaison and workshop sessions between specialists within the Port Authority and Scott Wilson specialist port planning, plant, equipment and operations consultants. The final master plan consisted of 15 stages of expansion and is expected to be complete in 2030, raising the total annual capacity to 55m TEU’s.
Scott Wilson has been working on the design of port projects in Dubai for 20 years and this most recent appointment is seen as a confirmation of the excellent working relationship between Scott Wilson and the Client, the Dubai Ports Authority.
