Bahrain Island

Scott Wilson has been retained to provide master planning, urban design, landscape, environmental and engineering services for this high profile development project on the North East coast of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

This mixed use development comprises of residential, employment and tourism needs, set in waterside locations, with the central area comprising of a business district and supporting local neighbourhoods. The project is 1250 hectares and includes beach and marina development with hotels, villas and recreational and leisure facilities.

The project has been conceived with extensive water frontages facing the sea and arranged on an internal canal system involving public and private beach frontages, canal waterside development and marinas. The islands will be formed by dredging land fill material and has been designed to achieve incremental growth where sections of the project are fully completed at each stage and not disrupted by subsequent construction. Particular attention has been given to the provision and landscape treatment of public open space to achieve a high quality residential, commercial and tourism environment.
