Sheffield Botanical Gardens

Environment

The Botanical Gardens were originally designed in 1834 by Robert Marnock. Scott Wilson has been involved in all three-phases of the Gardens’ restoration and improvements. The purpose of this project was to re-introduce the enchanting experience to the garden for the thousands of visitors.

Phase one of the project involved the restoration of the main entrance to the Gardens, via Curator’s House and the South Lodge. Phase two was the introduction of the interior design of both hard and soft landscape around the Paxton Pavilions. Finally Phase three was the restorations of all the monuments, footpaths and plating throughout the whole garden.

Extensive care and time was needed throughout the project, to ensure the historical artefacts were not harmed or damaged. In addition to this, the extensive planting had to be protected throughout the restoration.
